Fireworks Chapter 2
In a vector object, path segments connect the anchor points of a path.
The start and end points of a closed path are connected.
You can draw free-form paths using the Vector Path tool.
Each anchor point has one or more point handles.
Point handles are visible when you edit a curved path segment.
You can create and modify point handles on curved paths by using the Subselection tool.
You can adjust the stroke properties for all vector tools.
You can use the Join command to join two open selected points.
When the Union command is used on two paths that overlap, the nonintersecting areas are also included.
You can change preset gradient colors.
You can add a color to a gradient by clicking an area beneath the color ramp.
The Color Mixer displays the color palette of the values of the active solid color.
Filters can dramatically change the appearance of an object.
You can undo the filters from the Filters menu only in the current work session.S
Styles are preset attributes.
You can apply text and button styles to any object.
When you create a custom style, you can save many of the properties associated with fills, strokes, effects, and text.
After you group objects, you can modify properties of the group as a whole.
The Clone command creates an identical object and places it above the original on the Layers panel.
The Pen tool can be used to draw free-form paths.
If the path of a vector object has curves, such as a circle, ellipse, or rounded rectangle, the circular points are known as curve points.
If the path of a vector object has angles or is linear, such as a square, a star, or a straight line, the square points are known as corner points.
The Subselection tool is used to move points on a path.
You can use the Subselection tool to create a curved point.
To connect two unconnected paths, select the Pen tool, click the end point of one path, and then click the end point of the other path.
You can modify the size and angle of a curve by adjusting the length and position of the point handles.
You can use the Pen tool to create and modify point handles on curved paths.
The Align commands are located on the Modify menu.
You can open the Align panel to distribute, size, and space multiple objects.
If the Join command is applied to two objects which are both closed, the new path is called a(n) composite path.
If the Join command is applied to two objects which are open, the new path is called a(n) continuous path.
The Union command creates a path that is the sum total of all the selected paths.
The Duplicate command is found on the Edit menu.
In Windows, you can replicate any object by pressing and holding [Alt] and then dragging the object on the canvas.
To use the Union command, click Modify on the menu bar, point to Combine Paths, and then click Union.
In Windows, you can press [Ctrl][G] to group objects.
A(n) solid fill is the color swatch or hexadecimal value that you specify in the color pop-up window or in the Color Mixer.
A Web Dither fill approximates the color of a non-Web-safe color by combining two Web-safe colors.
Pattern fills are bitmap images that have complex color schemes and textures.
The color ramp creates and displays the range of colors in a gradient, including their transparency.
You can adjust gradient transparency by modifying the opacity swatches above the color ramp.
You can view the color palette of the values of the active solid color in the Stroke Color box on the Tools panel.
All file formats exported by Fireworks are based on the RGB color model.
The Filters section of the Property inspector includes the effects found on the Filters menu, as well as bevel, emboss, shadow, and glow effects.
Fireworks adjusts transparency in terms of percentage.
Fireworks uses percentage settings to adjust the amount of texture in strokes and fills.
The opacity setting determines if your image is completely opaque or completely transparent.
You can open the Styles panel from the Window menu.
